Never Thought You'd See A Statement From Canada On This Blog, Eh?

03 Mar 2008 03:00 pm

Here one is:

Washington, D.C., March 3, 2008 — The Canadian Embassy and our Consulates General regularly contact those involved in all of the Presidential campaigns and, periodically, report on these contacts to interested officials. In the recent report produced by the Consulate General in Chicago, there was no intention to convey, in any way, that Senator Obama and his campaign team were taking a different position in public from views expressed in private, including about NAFTA. We deeply regret any inference that may have been drawn to that effect.

The people of the United States are in the process of choosing a new President and are fortunate to have strong and impressive candidates from both political parties. Canada will not interfere in this electoral process. We look forward, however, to working with the choice of the American people in further building an unparalleled relationship with a close friend and partner.

It's important to realize that the press release in question uses the word PRO-cess and not the word pro-CESS.

Oh, yeah, big surprise that the guy who spells it "Marc" is in the tank for Canada.

So - Canada admits the existence of a memo from a meeting that Obama denies ever took place.

Canada interfere? That is an interesting statement, in and of itself. Is this the momentum that Hillary needs to get her numbers back up again in Texas and elsewhere?

JoseyJ, thanks for the laugh!!

Everyone google NAFTA-gate...

Hmmm, awful fishy to me. Smells like a walleye, looks like a catfish. Something stinks about this story- show me the facts...

The facts or what you want to hear?

This memo is pretty explicit and should dismiss this nonsensical matter immediately. I wonder if the pro-Obama press will let it go or will they keep following the Clinton lead of distort and smear where ever possible.

If the Clintons want to carry this further, let's have a full examination of all their statements on NAFTA, all their associates activities with any member of any consulate or other government.

We can then examine side by side which candidate is schmoozing whom.

You Clinton folks up for that? We could call the Clinton campaign together about it.

Whatever the official statement now, one or more members of a Tory government in Canada DID take steps to damage the leading liberal US presidential candidate a few days before a crucial vote.

I keep wondering why that isn't a bigger story in and of itself, but I guess that's par for the course these days.

According to the Chicago Tribune, Clinton phonebankers are calling Obama "Osama bin Laden" and then claiming it is a "slip of the tongue."
