Non-Politics Thought For The Day: Down To "The Wire"

It would not do justice to David Simon's vision for "The Wire" if:

(a) Jimmy McNulty isn't fired, and/or prosecuted;

(b) Marlo doesn't prevail, somehow (although the teaser for the final episode suggests that he's shot in the head)

(c) the Sun somehow escapes the plagiarism scandal

(d) some bit, beloved character doesn't celebrate some, small victory as the end credits appear over the music...

BTW: doesn't it seem like we'll learn that Maurice Levy's source in City Hall is none other than McNulty's pal, Judge Daniel Phelan?

Agree with you on almost all points except (c) - it would fit perfectly with Simon's vision if the Sun escaped the plagiarism scandal: the corporate lackies' chosen reporter will escape unscathed, mark my words

Hey Marc - It is convention not to just go off and say things like "the teaser suggests he is shot in the head" without prefacing your comments with a SPOILER caveat. This is one sentence that I wish had been plagued by your typically incomprehensible grammar/syntax.

All season I have managed to avoid any spoilers... until now.

Please put a warning on your post...

(Many viewers avoid the teasers because they are created by HBO and not Simon).

Actually, I have no idea what Marc thinks he saw in that teaser. I saw no such thing.

And Phelan? Nah. Not enough build-up, no logic. May as well be Rawls or Bonds. The leak has to be a no-name person, somebody's cousin or something. We've probably never seen him/her before. It'll play some role in how the whole Davis/Levy thing shakes down, but I don't think the leak's identity will be important, dramatically speaking.
