Source: DNC Okayed Michigan Plan

Lawyers and officials at the Democratic National Committee have reviewed and informally given their OK to the legislation authorizing a primary re-vote in Michigan, two Democrats with direct knowledge of the matter said.

This means that, so far as the DNC concerned, the plans for a re-vote are likely to pass the screen of the party's rules and bylaws committee.

Who's the source? Harold "I voted to strip Michigan of their delegates before I hypocritically held Barack Obama over the fire for 'disenfranchisement'" Ickes?

The Clinton folks here have bended and twisted the rules to their advantage for too long. Make it end.

But Obama's camp is still concerned about how many of his supporters may have voted in the GOP Primary and would be ineligible for this re-vote...correct?

I sincerely hope the Obama camp doesn't make this an issue as they have already said whatever the DNC decides they will go along with. Additionally, Obama stands a good chance of winning the state and even if he doesn't it won't be by much.

This is the biggest game of gamesmenship. The DNC doesn't want to be pinned as the ones that prevented a revote. So, they are passing the buck back to the Michigan Republican Legislature to figure it out - knowing it is still very unlikely that all the knots will ever be ironed out. When they aren't, the DNC can say - well we wanted the revote - but the Republicans didn't. Game Set Match.
