Spitzer Is The Story Of The Day

For better or worse, regardless of what you think about prostitution, privacy, hypocrisy, news coverage, and prejudgments.

Here's the complaint filed by prosecutors last Thursday alleging a multi-city prostitution ring. There are links to the Gambino crime family.

WNBC reports that investigators possess text messages showing Spitzer trying to arrange liaisons with unnamed persons.

Here's a link to the cached Emporers' Club VIP website, which has been taken down.

The first sign that something was up: three of the four public corruption AUSAs in the SDNY were involved in the case.

Two points:

1) My tinfoil side has always thought that the point of FISA is to get dirt on Dem pols (as well as media titans and reporters)

2) Paterson was described in a NY Observer article as a very reluctant Clinton supporter whose heart is with Obama. Not that if he becomes governor he is going to get involved with much of this.

Marc, are you seriously suggesting that you think there's been a rush to judgment here? Even aside from how this reflects on Spitzer as a governor, a crusader, a public official, a former AG, a husband, a father to three daughters -- he's informed his staff that he was involved in a prostitution ring. Remember?

The issue is not that he is caught with his pants down.

The question is how much did he make use of the service, how much did he pay, and how could he afford the rates of this outfit on his salary?

Who paid the bills for him or where did he get the money from?

The crux of this case will be about whether Mr. Clean has IOUs he was cashing in for 'services'.

When are these Dem-on-Dem hate crimes going to stop? Now the Obamamaniacs are after Spitzer because he dared to endorse Clinton? Is there anyone they won't mow down in their bid to seat their nominee, whether the majority of Dems agree or not?

Given the remaining primaries, even with revotes in Michigan and Florida, it doesn't look like either Dem may have the delegates necessary to outright take the nomination. But if Clinton's ahead, well to hell with the rest of us seems to the battle cry.

The entire discussion is completely polluted with constant, vicious mud slinging, and contrary to what they like to believe, Obama and his crew of surrogates and supporters are just as bad as Clinton, maybe worse, because they don't appear to have loyalty to ANYONE but him, not the party and not the country.

I don't like that Obama gives his supporters permission NOT to vote for Clinton if she wins, and slams the door on working out a deal between he and Clinton. Who's side is he on? His own apparently. At the rate it's going, neither of them will have the necessary delegates, and the super delegates will pick Obama because they'lll be too afraid of what his supporters will do if they don't. THAT'S JUST WRONG! And I think everyone knows it.

There's an appropriate time and place to suggest that someone might make an excellent addition to one's own presidential ticket. For Hillary, it is not that time and she is not at that place, and therefore Obama is well within the norms of political decency to reject such an "offer."

The Gambinos took the Governor down as retribution.

It's pretty obvious that there were Mob ties to this prostitution ring.

The Gambinos probably tried to use this dirt to squirm out from under the recent indictments, and the Governor wasn't helpful.

So the Gambinos dropped the bomb on him.

If you think this investigation started with a tax issue, you're nuts.
