I think Spitzers should resist and stay in office. After all, what he did was no worse than what Vitters did. Spitzers should hold firm, despite the fact that public opinion is increasingly tightening against him.
He should stay in office, only if he makes legalizing all consent crimes between adults his only legislative agenda item! And also gay marriage!
We are a nation of rubberneckers. Oh what fun it would be to watch him try to resist this. Wretched for his family and morally wrong, but a spectical.
It's 10 pm and he's still governor. I admired the man when he ran (I live in MA and haven't followed his govship closely) and it's a pity he's out before he can get a D-controlled leg this November to push more of his agenda through, but this was boneheaded on so many levels. The law-and-order guy should not be caught breaking the law, especially in a crime he enthusiastically prosecuted as AG. Should not be mixed up with such potent blackmail stuff via an outfit linked to organized crime. Should not be caught by software he insisted banks use. Just admit you can't survive this politically and go into exile.
What kind of a moron in this day and age would scr3w hookers without wearing a condom? Wow. Talk about a lack of judgement. And then he presumably would have sex with his wife at some point after - perhaps infecting her? The more facts that come to light, the more twisted this Spitzer guy is shown to be. Men like this should not be anywhere near the reigns of power. Perhaps some of his convictions need to be reviewed?

Spitzer may well resist, but he's done for. I'd put the over/under on his remaining term in office at four hours, but he may decide to drag it out -- to no avail whatsoever.
At the end of the metaphorical day, he's done.
