"I think fundamentally McCain is a decent man .... On national security, McCain demolishes Hillary." Gotta love how Obama supporting "Democrats" have a thing for McCain and his foreign policy. I guess Samantha Powers' gaffe about how Obama wasn't really going to withdraw from Iraq appeals to Obama supporting "Democrats" like cm.
cm, Well said. McCained is a very good man, (his private business is his PRIVATE business) and will make a good, competent President. Unless he surprises us once he is in power, he will probably not be a great President. While it is possible to predict what some people will likely do once they assume power --- like Hillbilly --- it is often impossible to do so beforehand. He can turn out to be a surprisingly vigorous person who have nothing to lose by making fundamental reforms and will do so without a thought to his chances for re-election. Or, he can turn out to be merely a caretaker President that will be a good steward of the nation. On the other hand, OBammBamm is coming in with a desire for something different. It is just as likely that he will be captured and converted by the Washington establishment (like most of his other predecessors). In either case, the United States will likely be in the hands of a good leader.
"Obama is a candidate made to beat someone like McCain; however, McCain is a candidate made to beat someone like Hillary." Cool, cm. Well said. OT, why do I have to log in each time I post. Is there anyway I can stay logged in here ?

I think fundamentally McCain is a decent man with some very flawed political philosophies.
That being said, he is very likable, and would clean Hillary's clock in a general election. Remember, in most general elections, it usually comes down to who is the most likable and trustworthy, and McCain would demolish Hillary on those fronts.
And Hillary has been competing on experience, and again McCain demolishes her on that. On national security, McCain demolishes Hillary.
Obama beats McCain. Obama would be seen as the most likable and trustworthy, and would also come across very favorably as the candidate of change.
Change trumps experience in elections as any reading of history shows. Also, Obama can redefine the national security argument in his favor, pointing out how Iraq was a strategic blunder that hurt our national security.
Obama is a candidate made to beat someone like McCain; however, McCain is a candidate made to beat someone like Hillary.
