Yes, in answer to the question I know you're asking: this poll was conducted Thursday through Monday, which means that most of the sample was exposed to at least some of the news coverage about Sen. Obama's San Francisco remarks. Hillary Clinton's lead is very narrow -- six points -- and Obama leads strongly in North Carolina and is winning, albeit by a smaller margin, in Indiana. A few interesting nuggets: in North Carolina, 30% of Clinton supporters say they'd switch to McCain if Obama were the nominee. Only in Pennsylvania does Clinton lead the "commander-in-chief" question. And in all three states, Obama is seen as more admirable than Clinton on a whole host of issues.

The Chicago Sun Times reports: ‘state senator Barack Obama wrote letters to city and state officials supporting his political patron Tony Rezko's successful bid to get more than $14M from taxpayers to build apartments’. Obama told the Chicago Tribune that, in all the years he's known Rezko, "I've never done any favors for him.'' How does Obama get away with this? Where is the media on this unbelievable topic?

Hillary won't even pay her campaign vendors on time. They have to take her to court to get paid and her people are not answering phone calls. That is what I call working hard for the little guys. Barrack could have blasted that all over the nation in his campaign but he is not about mudslinging like Hillary. He could also exploit the fact that Mr. Clinton committed infidelity while in office and lied under oath. Have a little class Hillary and get to the real issues.

Also from that LA Times story: And in what can only be seen as a message to the superdelegates who will likely decide who gets the Democratic nomination, majorities in all three states said they believe the superdelegates should back whichever candidate won the popular vote in the superdelegate's state. So much for the "vote your heart" argument. I assume someone has done the math with superdelegates allocated to the winner of their state, rather than the overall vote leader. Presumably, that helps Hillary, who would get CA, NY, TX, and most of the other big states. Anyone know how those numbers look?
All these "I'll switch to McCain" threats are a little overstated. McCain voters said the same in 2000 when Bush got the nom. (Granted, Gore narrowly won the popular vote, but still.) Ever notice that Obama polls better than Clinton in NC when pitted against McCain? www.electoral-vote.com

Amazing how Hillbilly and OBammBamm are so focused on each other, and in the mean time....
Here it is, McCained just made one of his biggest political gaffs --- and no one noticed.
McCained made a promise to ask Congress to cut the 18 cent Federal excise tax on gasoline temporarily to cheers at a political rally. His calculation is that it is something that is not going to pass, he can take credit for suggesting it to Congress, and then blame the Democrats for not passing it.
Some bright eyed, bushy tailed Democrat operative for the nominee can take the video clip from that promise and do this:
- Have a bubba looking working class guy saying "I got a $3 tax cut when I filled up my truck. Thanks a lot, John McCained.
- Cut to a rich, posh Republican donor to McCain happily chime in, "I got a tax cut worth $2 million dollars from the Republicans, and I donated only $2,000 to their campaign. I expect to get the same return on investment from John McCained!
- End the ad with.... End unfair tax cuts, Vote OBammBamm.
