Ask The Blogger: High Turnout Helps Who?

06 May 2008 01:38 pm

Q: "Hi Marc.. Does heavy voter turnout today hurt/ help Hillary?"

A. It helps Democrats in general, of course. There’s been no correlation so far between the size of turnout and any particular candidate’s performance. So one might guess that Obama’s vaunted field machine is kicking in… or Clinton’s grassroots supporters are energized…or Indianans and North Carolinians are taking the chance they’ve been given to participate in the democracy, inasmuchas you can call the Democratic nominating process a democratic one.
