Good idea!
hey marc, why does puerto rico(not a state) have more delegates than oregon(a state) ?
Election night?!
Marc, I was shocked when you disabled the comments last month. You are blogging a presidential election. How can you shut down the voice of your readers while you are covering democracy? There can not be any excuse to do this. If some people are using abusive language then you can always delete those comments. But it is literally insulting for a blog that covers a democratic process to disable the comments. I urge you to keep the comments enabled going forward. Regards.
Marc, I think you've made your point already-- if commenters misbehave, you will disable comments. Fair warning. But why keep this going? The nature of your blog is such that a lot of the content came from very clever commenters' perspectives, and not in your blog posts (sorry, Marc). It's what separated your blog from Mark Halperin's. Reconsider. Sincerely,
I left when the comments left. Came back tonight through a link from another site. Will leave again when the comments leave again.
I'll second the motion to reconsider the comment ban. Often during the campaign season I've seen material here that seemed factually dubious--see, e.g., popular vote totals. In that case, the comment sections are useful because they allow an adversarial discussion of the competing claims, links to evidence, greater detail, etc. The discussion makes this a more appealing source. And without it, I find myself coming here less and less.
You should talk with your tech guys, see if you've got anything in the pipeline to update the comments section, digg or slashdot style. Just something to bury the trash and promote the treasure.
Of course, you could consider that if a lot of people are saying the same thing about your coverage, then perhaps they have a point, and not to throw a sissy fit and disable the comments.
I agree with previous comments here about allowing the comments. A blog is not a blog without comments. If you can not handle the heat of the commentators then stop blogging..lol.
I was disappointed to visit the blog today and see that comments are turned off again. To me this substantially lessens the value of reading a blog -- that you can see not just one person's perspective, but discussion of that perspective from a number of viewpoints. Bye.

fool! I mean, um, thanks. I like comments, even though they do get troll-y around here :).
