That's the official slogan of the McCain campaign, and it makes its first formal appearance this morning in a new McCain television advertisement about global warming and the environment. Where Obama is associated with change, the McCain campaign wants McCain to be associated with those three words, much like Bill Clinton aimed to be associated with "hope, growth and opportunity." Or was it: "responsibility, opportunity and community?"

Wasn't that the slogan of the Peoples Liberation Army?
gosh he just upped the geek factor looking like a baffon with that smirky grin chin up at the end... and as for the slogan, I'd describe 4 years of McCain more like: "Abandonment, Misery, War" He doesn't stand for Reform when he supports every policy in Bush's white house... and what reform he does support is idiotic, 60 vote majorities for raising taxes? taxing employers on their contributions to employee's health plans and taxing the employee on their receipt as income? Prospertity? How? Sheer force of will? Can we get the dollar to under 0.50 against the Euro? Peace? PEACE? From John Warmonger McLame? Good Grief... no end in sight with at least 1 new war a term
Yeah, the peacewashing of McCain is clearly the worst of the three. Obama's just Hope & Change. Who needs a third word!
Orwellian. 'Or was it: "responsibility, opportunity and community?"' Exactly. There are two too many words here. Why not, "Freedom, security, victory"? Marc, I really think you give too much attention to the language of the campaigns themselves. It's not informative on either policy or politics, and it's not where the election is going to be won and lost. Your reporting has fallen off somewhat. What is the status of the Obama registration drive? Give us your thoughts about what the impact of new voters will be this year. I believe it is the story of the cycle and it has dropped off the map.
It does have a better ring than: Cheating Polluting Warmonger. But I doubt either message is going to sell.
What happened to "An American American for Americans"? That was much more alliterative and, as some have indicated above, it's far too easy to get mixed up with which adjectives are in this slogan.
Got to love that music.
"Hope, growth and opportunity" I'm almost certain was Steve Forbes '96. Delivered by the candidate ad nauseam with a beatific smile that called to mind, in the memorable words of a friend, "a deranged 3rd grader." "Responsibility, opportunity, community" wasn't Clinton per se ("Putting People First" is what stuck with me) but rather the DLC/New Democrat mantra.
Hahahahaha. The Democrats have such silly slogans.
Looks like the Republicans are extending their incompetance from governing to campaigning.
Are those jeans acid wash? Tuck your shirt in, John. Your seventy-one years old. You should know better.
Peace? PEACE? From John Warmonger McLame? Good Grief... no end in sight with at least 1 new war a term But he hates war. He told us so. And he'll allow our troops to fight and bleed and die until there is no more war in Iraq ... whenever that might be. Now about the way to deal with Iran...
McCain - "Stupidity, Poverty, War" Want "Stupidity, Poverty, War" for one more term, then vote McBush.
"Winken, Blinken, and Nod"? You laugh, but has anyone ever tried that as a slogan?
Why are John McCain's ads so bad? I mean that as a serious question.
I'm strongly considering, "Obscene, Harassing, Defamatory, and Otherwise Objectionable". But I guess I'd have to get clearance from Ambinder first.
"Larry, Moe, Curly Joe!"?
"Parsley, Sage, Rosemary, Thyme.". For the more sensitive campaign.
"A Large Slab of Tofu in every Stirfry!"
I don't have television, so I'm curious...Is Obama not doing any teevee ads? Every ad I've seen on the interwebs--esp this blog--has been a McCain ad. Are Obama's ads not as interesting or are they non-existent?
Like Mike, it sounds like Orwell to me. The addenda: * Rewarding incompetent governance is reform! * Falling real wages and household wealth is prosperity! * 100 years in Iraq is peace!

Hilarious. The guy running on George Bush's disastrous record is promoting peace and prosperity and reform?
