I don't understand why don't they use the opportunity to resurrect the Phil Gramm issue? It dovetails perfectly with the messaging for the week; counteracts the Johnson story.Pulls out a host of lobbyist issues McCain has. And allows them to pull out of this at dente if nothing else. That said; Obama is not going to drop Johnson. He'll take a hit that god knows will be how effective but it's not going to be something to hurt over. They should drop a story on Gramm through; I don't get why that didn't get more coverage at the time. And now is a great way to pull it up.
And who vets the persons who's vetting the person who's vetting the vetter? Vet vet vet vet vet.
And who vets the person who's vetting the person who's vetting the vetter? Vet vet vet vet vet.
this is a huge non-story. nothing illegal or even improper took place. johnson isn't advising on economic or mortgage policy, he's not even technically "advising" on anything. He's just an information gatherer. He's a glorified intern, doing the legwork so that his boss can get all the credit. johnson isn't a paid part of the campaign, he has no real influence in decision making. he's simply one of three people gathering information so that Obama can make an informed choice about his vice-president. the fact that he got a good deal on his mortgage doesn't bother me, and its entirely irrelevant to what he's doing.
I choose option D: Marc Ambinder is attempting to secure a front row seat to McCain's next barbecue, where he can stuff his pinguid face with ribs. I'm sorry, was that not civil?
also, what jb said.
Yawn
only an issue inside the bubble - not on the radar of the average American
I choose option A, but replace Obama with Armbinder and get rid of the words 'ask him to.'
Jim Johnson should be fired. Someone like Rahm Emanuel or Dianne Feinstein should lead the search.
Are we going to any such polls about Phil Gramm? Or are the others going to be about haircuts and waffles?
This issue couldn't be any more Inside Baseball. Do you really think the american public cares about who reads resumes for Obama. Asa other people have said who vets the vetting of the vetters. I can't wait for 2009 so we can have 2 years off from hearing the term vetter
Where's the argument that this alleged connection to Countrywide will make Johnson unable to be a good vetter of VP candidates? I still don't get why this issue is important. This just as asinine as the Ayers controversy.
what drjimcooper said jb said, plus what rts, tiparallio, and earbucket said that jeff opined about escher who said "amby" ambinder should lope his mule around the corral and rest his brainz. so that's that. right?
Marc either posts this kind of thing because he believes pissing people off is the way toward increasing his page counts, or he's lost all point of reference. Either way, it's not encouraging.
