Turnout Signals For Democrats

Republicans looking at tallies from yesterday's primary elections in Michigan have reason to worry:

One GOP strategist passes along some anecdotal evidence from a few key state house races. In the 62nd district, a top five house race in the fall, both Democratic and Republicans had competitive primaries; Democratic turnout was heavier by about 220 votes.

And in the election to determine who sits on the fourth district court of appeals, both candidates perceived as Democrats -- the seat is officially non-partisan -- significantly outpolled Republicans Eric Doster, a former general counsel of the state party, and State Rep. Jim Howell.
