I work in campaign finance on the Democratic side and I would say re: Palin's wardrobe --- this is kind of shaky ground for them but just like there is an automobile exemption if it is for campaign use I would guess they will be fine as long as they can demonstrate that it is really a campaign wardrobe and not enhancing her personal wardrobe with campaign funds. There is not an explicit exemption for clothing but that seems to be the spirit. The real questions there are a) where are the clothes kept?
As you raise online.... are they lining Palin's suitcases and closet, or are they kept on campaign buses, planes, advance staff as part of her wardrobing and event advance? and b) what happens to the clothes after the campaign? If they remain with the RNC and are disposed of like other RNC property then I thnk they are ok. If Palin keeps them, it seems like a clear violation.
