Over The Top Palin Reactions (And A Biden Bonus)

05 Oct 2008 03:57 pm

Three nominees:

"There is something else that Palin brings to the table, that may be an unspoken source of this angst. She is the first woman near the very  top level of politics who really looks and behaves like a woman, a  woman whom men want to look at, and other women may want to look like. She has cheekbones to die for, movie-star hair, and has mastered the  delicate dress code of looking both stunning and powerful."

-- Noemie Emery, The Weekly Standard

"She didn't just win the vice-presidential debate, she showed that she belongs with Ronald Reagan and Bill Clinton as among the best  communicators of our modern political times."

-- Dick Morris

He was masterful tonight. Biden is a stone cold pro in a world where most politicians just become cold or stone-like. But Joe Biden managed to communicate on every issue in a clear and laser focused way. The happiest person on the planet had to be Barack Obama's gastroenterologist. Because when Obama has to go under for his colonoscopy as president this Doctor will not have to rush, lest the VP drop the ball while in charge for those forty-five minutes. Obama's GI will even be able to take a second lap around the large intestine to make sure.

Dick Morris must have been chewing on some serious starburst when he wrote that. My God, is that awful.

Does Dick Morris smoke crack?

Brian The Greatest Blog in History

behaves like a woman, a woman whom men want to look at, and other women may want to look like.
Noemie Emery is the winner.

Morris probably doesn't smoke crack. He just talks like a typical Republican propagandist. Always, first and foremost, the Big Lie with that crowd.

It should be pointed out that all the surveys of indepndents --e.g. voters who hadn't already made up their minds --showed Biden winning handily. But as the Republicans themselves have told us, they are not part of the fuddy duddy "reality based" community.

The heck with facts. They MAKE UP facts!

Lowry pwns these reactions.

One uses a bizarre metaphor, one is a Republican operative, but the winner is clearly Noemie Emery.

"Really looks and behaves like a woman"?

She might as well have written - "We have suffered so long with plain-faced leadership, secretly longing for winking, french braids, and folksy flirtation. Let's get serious and require a swimsuit competition in 2012."

At least McKay knows to spell "laser" with an "s".

I think Emery expressd it rather poorly, but Palin does has a certain sex appeal that some male candidates have also been known to draw on: John Kennedy, Bill Clinton. Political women, like corporate women, have often had to de-sexualize themselves in order to be taken seriously. Look at the dress code, though I guess Nancy Pelosi is an exception there, she always looks like a million bucks (but not sexy). I guess the flaw in this analysis, though, is that while Palin doesn't de-sexualize herself, it's awful hard to take her seriously when she is talking gibberish.

As for Morris, I've long conlcuded that those hookers whose toes he liked to suck must have been using lead-based toenail polish. It's impossible today to be a total Republican toady without sounding like either a liar or an imbecile, but Morris invariably chooses to do both.

As for Adam Kay, geez Adam, lift your spirits enough to at least get your mind in the gutter.

Are you going to follow up with Obama's gastroenterologist on this story?

Wow. thanks for sharing.

I read these comments made by bow-tie wearing, preppie-school-having-attended, ivy league shool alum Republican dorks from Rich Lowry to . . . well guys I've actually never heard of who write for the National Review - and finishing up with the world's biggest dumb-ass, Dick (I like hookers) Morris - and I wonder if these guys might have different views if they - A. ever got laid; B. had sex with women; or C. didn't have to pay for sex (or in Dick Morris's case, phone sex). Sarah Palin looks good for her age but come on Rich-Noemie-Dick! Get your hand out of your pants while your typing.

Not sure if this was intentional on your part, or the type of contortionism that is required of a guy like you who tries to play it down the middle. Either way it is a sad commentary on right-leaning political journalists/pundits that the first two are actual journalists/pundits whereas Adam McKay is a comedian. He's the guy who wrote Anchorman and Talladega Nights and used to be at SNL.

In other words, his words were intended to be funny. The first two just happen to be funny.

Anyone else notice of the hypocrisy of these same right-wingers who mocked the "rock star" atmosphere around Obama during the primaries now giving Sarah Palin the same treatment, if not worse.

Shorter Noemie Emery: VPILF.

You gotta be kidding me.

Oh Mr. Morris! You know Mav told me you were just a big ol' naughty bear. Tell ya' what Dick, may I call ya' Dick? Why don't you call that hot shot magazine everyone's talkin' about and give 'em a really super quote cuz I just might be able to find my open toe red Achilles heels and wear 'em for big a ol' sexy opinion leader like you!

C'mon Marc! I know you're trying to do the 'balance' thing, but is that remark about Joe Biden really as ridiculous as the ones about Sarah Palin?

He WAS masterful in his debate. Most of us ARE confident in his experience should he ever have to step in temporarily.

I sat back during the debate and just admired the way he handled what was a very difficult situation - he didn't condescend - he just pwned.

I just don't see the equivalence.

To find Sarah Palin sexually attractive is to be perverted.

Ah yes, Adam McKay. That great philosopher who brought us that stinging political satire "Anchorman." That seems to be a good intellectual counterbalance to a writer for a leading conservative publication and a fixture on cable news.

I know that it's tough to find liberals who are half as ridiculous as most members of the high-profile institutional conservatism establishment in this country. But you can try a little harder next time.

OMG...thinking and commenting with their southern branch of brains. This passes for political intellectual discourse? Get a room.

Dick Morris has squandered any credibility long before comparing Palin to Reagan. The fact that any network or publication would give him a platform betrays the journalistic professionalism of that organization. He is a fraud and producers/editors should recognize that.

Rich Lowry's comments are still the most absurd. What a hoser, as Mike Myers might say.
