Update On The NRSC's Activities: Back Into Louisiana; Colorado A Question

17 Oct 2008 02:50 pm

The National Republican Senatorial Committee pulled its advertising out of Louisiana last week, but shifting conditions on the ground have forced a reconsideration: the committee has decided to spend money in the state once again.

Republican challenge John Kennedy remains competitive with Democratic incumbent Mary Landrieu, although the Cook Political Report rates the race as "Lean Democratic."

"We have seen the race in Louisiana close dramatically over the past week so the strategy for this race is being re-evaluated," NRSC communications director Rebecca Fisher said. "According to publicly available information we have placed a buy for next week."

Fisher also disputes my report this morning that the NRSC plans to drawn down its advertising in Colorado, although other GOP officials insist that Republican Bob Schaffer's campaign is planning to make do without NRSC help.

A source says that a new NRSC spot is being prepped for Colorado.
