Correction

My  "Race Over" incorrectly identified a pastor who attempted to secure money to help turn out the vote for President-elect Obama.  Rev. Anthony Evans of the Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship in Dallas, Texas had no contact with any Obama official before the election and did not attempt to secure any money.

My source, who re-verified the story before publication,  conceded after publication that a different pastor made the request.   It's easy for reporters to find excuses here; the due diligence in question was my job, and I failed. These mistakes are mine; it's mortifying that they reflect poorly on my editors, who rely on me for accuracy.

In any event, I've learned quite a bit about Rev. Evans in the past few days. It's hard to find a pastor who is more respected by conservative and liberal elements of the faith. He has always maintained a distance from politics.
